Sailing Camp Counsellor
**No previous sailing experience necessary**
The Sailing Camp Counsellor works closely with the Sailing Instructor to manage day-to-day operations of our youth summer sailing camp. The Sailing Camp Counsellor is someone with strong leadership, communication and conflict resolution skills and previous kids-camp experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, ensuring a “flow” to each day, supervising and mentoring a summer camp assistant, communicating with parents, ensuring a fun and safe environment for sailors/campers age 8-14. This position reports to the Directors of the Yukon Breeze Sailing Society.
There is no public transportation to Schwatka Lake. A requirement of employment is transportation to and from work (our location is approximately a 15 minute bike ride or 6 minute drive from downtown Whitehorse).
Start Date: June 13, 2026
End Date: August 14, 2026
Hours per week: 37.5
Wage: $23 - $28 per hour (depending on experience)
Required Certifications:
Current Standard First Aid & CPR C certification (needed before start date)
Pleasure Craft Operators Card (needed before start date)
Lifeguarding certification (would be considered an asset)
Minimum Required Qualifications:
strong organizational and planning skills
strong leadership qualities
strong communication skills with staff and parents
previous work in a camp or teaching environment for children and youth
previous sailing experience is considered an asset
A criminal record check with a vulnerable sector screening is a condition of employment.
